a new thing
a haiku poem about growing in Christlikeness
doing a new thing like how winter turns from spring you are changing me
About
Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. - Isaiah 43:19
The God we serve never changes. Scripture describes how like a rock, He is a firm foundation we can trust.
Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock. - Isaiah 26:4
Yet while God forever stays the same, that is not to be so with us. As believers, we are to be in the constant pursuit of increasing conformity to the image and likeness of Christ. We glorify God in the pursuit of righteousness rooted in Christ (Phil 1:11), living in a manner that is worthy of His Gospel (Phil 1:21). We change to become more like Him as we prayerfully respond with repentance to the Holy Spirit’s conviction, as He produces Christlike character traits (such as “the fruits of the Spirit” of Galatians 5) in our lives.
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. - 2 Corinthians 3:18
We are being changed into the image and likeness of the One who forever stays the same. Hallelujah!
Prayer
Lord,
We are thankful for all the things you have done and are doing for our good and your glory. Thank you for empowering us to change more and more into the image of your Son.
Amen.
