When we feel overwhelmed and weighed down by all that is going on in our lives, to the sovereignty of God is where we ought to look. Yet I know that so often my response (and maybe yours too) when feeling overwhelmed by life is to exert mental energy into trying to understand how or when things will work out. It is natural to attempt to seek out such answers in our own strength and knowledge, but they are only truly found in the sovereign hand of God. It is he who crafts plans and purposes for our lives and oversees their coming to pass.
“But he is unchangeable, and who can turn him back? What he desires, that he does. For he will complete what he appoints for me, and many such things are in his mind.” - Job 23:13-14
“I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.” - Job 42:2
Prayer
Lord,
Thank you that we can trust in your sovereignty over all things. Continue to teach us to leave our worries and concerns in your hands and to grow to trust in you more and more.
