About
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. - Hebrews 11:1
It is common in our modern culture to throw around phrases like “Good luck!” or “I wish you the best!” without putting much thought into what is actually meant by these words. While it’s not inherently wrong to say such things, they simply fail to capture the nature of the hope we have as followers of Christ. Our hope is much different than mere “luck” or throwing out a “wish.” It is a sweet assurance that the things the Lord has promised to do will happen, though we have yet to see them come to pass. Such sure hope in God’s word and character is what defines our faith. Our hope is a living hope (1 Peter 1:3) that is a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul (Hebrews 6:19). It will never fade or pass away.
The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever. - Isaiah 40:8
Prayer
Lord,
Our hope rests in you alone. Grow our faith in you; guide us to grow more and more sure that you will do all you have promised. You are the firm foundation upon which we build our lives. Thank you that no matter the circumstances, we can find our joy and hope in you.
Amen.
