Substitutes

a poem about wholeheartedly following the Lord

There can be many substitutes
for the love that only comes from You.
This world is full of distractions
that sway us from joy that’s true.
There’s so much that we can run to.
Only following Christ will truly do.
Teach our hearts to avoid the substitutes
that cloud our pursuit of the will of You.
